Scotts Beach - Fowlers Bay S.A.

Off again up the west coast of Eyre Peninsular to Scotts Beach near Fowler's Bay, before heading to our Mullaway camp site at the Head of the Bight - GEUES.

1st stop is just up the road at COLTON - wood
fired bread and sticky buns!

Over the years we have never met the 'Baker', today was our lucky day - Mark was restocking the road side cabinet.
All bread loaves about 6 varieties and packs of 4 sticky buns $3.50 = good value.

Toured Mark's bake house, purpose built from lime stone blocks of abandoned buildings. The wood fired oven is from Adelaide, the fire box is behind Mark and the temperature gauge just visible on the left. Timber used - Sheoak as it burns hot and complete thus less ash to remove.
Oven capacity 100, 1kg loaves of bread and only fires
the oven once daily. Flour sourced locally from the Cummins Flour Mill.

Streaky Bay for lunch before camping the night at Haslam.

This is the calmest we have ever seen it at Haslam,
 no fish or squid.

Haslam Jetty mini history display, well worth a look at this provision supply list early 1900 hundred's.
No processed foods, or Tim Tam's here.

This ore truck makes our Bushtracker look small!

Scotts Beach - sunset and Sunrise

This chap down the cliff and out of the wind and hoping for that BIG Mullaway!

In Action!!

Landed!

Mexican Hat beach

Makes it easy when a school of Salmon are just circling the beach break. Landed 18 fish and release 10, with 7 given to the tourists fishing off Scotts Beach.

These folks from Adelaide were so happy with the fish they gave us a great bottle of W.A. Red!

More happy fisher person's, with one couple in a motor home parked behind us who had walk over the sand hills and along to the end of Scotts Beach - 4ks one way, with small rods. Returned with no fish and knackered, as they were not in camp when we first went over to offer them fish. I delivered filleted packaged fish, again so happy, another bottle of red! Hell of an exchange, let's go fishin!

How good is this on an early morning beach walk!

If you look closely, the black dot's are BOWLS'. Yep these two blokes gave up on the fishin' and played track bowls.

Same place different day - early morning walk! = MAGIC!

Plover chick in the sand hills, mum was going nut's overhead!

Beach combing

Untangle the rope

Yep! I was blowing by the time I got to the top of the escarpment with this load. Guess who's got the beach combing treasure's - Neil & Teresa - as if they need more stuff in their SHED!!
